The Comfort Inn St. Robert/Fort Leonard Wood is located just three miles from Fort Leonard Wood, a large Military Police, Chemical and Engineer training base. Throughout the year, Fort Leonard Wood graduates hundreds of soldiers from basic and advanced training for every branch of the military. Families travel from all over the country and world for these special ceremonies. An employee of the hotel since 1999, Clair wowed guests for many years as a room attendant and recently took over the post of breakfast attendant. During breakfast, Clair helps entertain children by giving away a variety of small toys and games. Her most important contribution is the creation of handmade, beaded guardian angel pins. Each week, Clair creates hundreds of angel pins to give to soldiers and their families as a commemorative thank you and a reminder that the hotel and community care about them and wish them a safe return from wherever they may travel. These angels celebrate military training accomplishments, rejoice in a soldiers' homecoming and act as a small memento for those preparing to be deployed. The Comfort Inn has received hundreds of comment cards and online reviews praising Clair and sharing how her handmade angels have touched their lives.
